The PJ6Y DXpedition to Saba Island is moving full steam ahead! We are thrilled to report significant progress in preparations for this exciting October event, which will now features nine young, first-time DXpeditioners.
Growing List of Sponsors
We are honored to welcome an expanding list of sponsors whose support is helping make this experience possible. Our sponsors now include:
- The Northern California DX Foundation
- DX Engineering
- The Daily DX
- CDXC – The UK DX Foundation
- Southeastern DX Club
- Twin Cities DX Association
- European DX Foundation
- GM DX Group
- Madison DX Club
- Oklahoma DX Association
- Southeast Michigan DX Association
- G3TXQ Hexbeam

Operational Plans
We will have stations at two separate sites on the north side of Saba Island, half a mile apart—both locations providing excellent take-off angles to Europe, North America, and Asia.
We will operate a total of five stations:
- Three local stations equipped with Elecraft K3s + KPA500 amplifiers.
- Two remote stations using NexGenRiB2s, generously provided by The Northern California DX Foundation.
Antennas will include:
- Inverted L and RX antennas for 160/80 meters.
- Verticals for 40 and 30 meters.
- A triband Yagi for 20/17/10 meters.
- A 5-band Hexbeam for 20/17/15/12/10 meters.
- A 5-element Yagi for six meters.
- A VHF/UHF satellite station.
- Filters and multiplexers to negate inter-station interference.
We will utilize Club Log real-time uploads and leaderboard.
Please note: There will be no unattended operation.
Remote stations will be manned by a team of 30–40 young operators, coordinated by:
- Steve, KI4KWR
- Mark, WC3W
- Kees, W0AAE
- Remote technical support for the RiBs will be provided by Warren, KD4Z.
- Sign-ups for remote ops begin in September.
Logistics and Travel
All equipment will be transported as checked baggage by U.S. team members. Most of the U.S. contingent will arrive in Charlotte on October 14 for an early morning departure on the 15th, arriving on Saba by ferry one day in advance of the remainder of the team. European team members will coordinate travel through Schiphol or CDG, to St. Maarten, then connecting by air to Saba.
Calendar Update
The PJ6Y DXpedition is scheduled for October 16–30, 2025 and includes participation in the CQWW DX SSB Contest. We are also in the process of determining if a POTA activation is feasible. This is a ground-up build—not an existing station. Our mission is to create a genuine DXpedition experience for our youth team.
Support the Future of DXpeditioning
We are working toward covering 100% of expenses for our young operators. Your support, whether as an organization, club, or individual—is crucial in empowering the next generation of DXpeditioners.
